19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
